TxDOT is in the process of assessing how it can improve mobility and traffic conditions on Highway 35. They are now considering how they can improve the road's transit options to Alvin, Houston, and Pearland.
The project originally included plans to raise the road and make it a toll road to accommodate both business and residential traffic. The current plans are to not elevate this part of the roadway.
Bear in mind that this is a long-term development plan, and the project is still in the very early stages of discussion. TxDOT is hoping that H-GAC is putting this project on their radar for its 2050 plan for development.
TxDOT has already raised $341 million for elevating the road, but they are still putting together the data and budget for possible changes for the rest of the project. Be sure to check for updates on this project on TxDOT’s website at https://www.txdot.gov/.
