Texas Education Agency Announces Changes To Accountability Ratings

Students and schools have had frequent disruptions within the past year resulting in the Texas Education Agency’s announcement to not issue A-F accountability ratings for the 2020-21 school year.

At this time, students are sill expected to take the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) this year. This year’s STAAR results will not be used for accountability purposes; however, they give will provide valuable information to education leaders and policymakers on the impact the pandemic has had on learning. In addition, TEA announced that STAAR results would not factor into this year’s teacher evaluation.

The 2020-21 school year has been challenging for both students, staff and families. Schools have been prioritizing safety while trying to maintain educational goals. Thank you to Katy ISD teachers and staff for your commitment to our children.
