Pomona Elementary Student Wins the District Spelling Bee

Pomona Elementary Fourth-Grader, Neev Shaw, was the Alvin ISD Jane Cox Memorial Spelling Bee Champion! Neev competed against 24 other contestants for the championship title at the Heritage Complex on January 23, 2020. After 17 rounds, Neev won the title by spelling “tyrannical” correctly! Congratulations, Neev!

The Alvin ISD Jane Cox Memorial Spelling Bee allowed contestants to ask for a word to be repeated, used in a sentence, an alternate pronunciation, the language of origin, its part of speech, and the definition. Alvin ISD students competed in a schoolwide spelling bee to qualify for the district competition. All of the district contestants did an amazing job, and Lakes of Savannah is excited cheer on next year’s Spelling Bee contestants!
