Three glorious touchdowns were run by Dustin Garrison as he led his team, the Pearland Oilers, to their Class 5A Division 1 Championship with a final score of 28-24 over Euless Trinity at the Cowboys Stadium in Arlington. Attendance at Cowboys Stadium was more than 43,000 for the game.
While Pearland didn’t make a first down in the opening quarter, Garrison was able to get the Oilers offense moving by the second quarter, catching a 21-yard pass and then running for 30 more. Garrison then scored the Touchdown on a 6 yard scamper with 10:04 left in the half.
Early in the third quarter, Pearland Oilers scored a 54 yard pass from Trey Anderson to San Ukwuachu for a 21-10 lead. Euless quickly moved back down the field and Terrence Tusan scored on a 2 yard run.
The win gave the Pearland Oilers a perfect 16-0 season. It was their first ever state football crown.
This was a great accomplishment for the Pearland Oilers and their hard work has truly paid off for them this year!
