The city of Pearland has adopted a plan to upgrade their 26 parks while ensuring equitable distribution of parkland and green space. The city plans to offer their diverse population a wide range of recreational sports programing within an accessible distance to the parks. The updated plan is considering population growth over the next 20 years, with growth expected to be higher in the west and south central parts of town.
The city is also looking at the possibility of developing an adventure park that encourages creative and imaginative play. The parks may include sand pits, ropes and water hoses for free-form play. The ideas of an 18-hole disk golf course and outdoor fitness equipment for seniors are also being considered.
