Friendswood Lakes Boulevard just celebrated its ribbon cutting, opening ceremony on September 23rd. This grand opening is just the first phase in the city’s greater plan for expansion.
The overall goal is to eventually connect Highway 146 in Kemah to Beltway 8 through Friendswood and Pearland. Funding for this project has been a united effort between Galveston County and Friendswood.
The $5.5 million project to connect Friendswood Lakes Boulevard to Stoney Lake Drive and West Boulevard included a new four-lane road, 5,100 feet of additional pavement, and around 1,400 feet of new storm sewer line.
This construction project and continuing projects for expanding roadways in the area are a direct response to the massive surge in traffic along FM 518.
