The 28th annual Tour de Braz cycling event plans to roll on April 17 after last years cancellation due to COVID-19. Traditionally hosting 400 to 700 riders, this years event will be scaled on the smaller side.
This year riders can choose from fire distances: 10, 34, 50, 65 and 100 miles. The event will have a staggered start with the 100-milers going off first at 8 a.m. followed by the 65 mile race 15 minutes after. Riders will be asked to where makes at the start and during rest area stops.
The 2019 event raised more than $8,000 for the Alvin Volunteer Fire Department. Registration can be completed online and costs $40 for adult riders and $10 for children 12 and under.
