Alvin Community College Creates 3D Face Shields

Alvin Community College provides educational opportunities in workforce training, academics, technical fields, adult basic education, and personal development. Alvin Community College is working to assist healthcare workers on the frontlines of the Coronavirus pandemic. To assist in the shortage of personal protective equipment, industrial design instructors have been producing masks for our healthcare workers.

These 3D face shields are made to cover and protect the entire face. After observing other colleges producing a similar product, Instructor James Langley found a ready-made design and materials list to get started. Although each mask takes several hours to complete, staffers are making as many as they can.

The community of Pearland is appreciative of the generosity and innovativeness of not only local businesses, but members of the community. Displays of kindness continue to be recognized during this time of need.
