Wild West Fun Raises Scholarship Funds

Patches and Pearls recently hosted “An Evening of Romance Style Show, Dinner & Dance” and Pearland’s best dressed cowgirls ruled the runway to raise money for local scholarships.

The event brought together almost 200 people who enjoyed a prime rib dinner and the opportunity to watch a western-style fashion show.

The event was sponsored by the Houston Go Metro Committee of Alvin and Pearland and all of the money raised will go towards scholarships for local Alvin, Pearland and Manvel high school students.

After the fashion show, guests were able to bid on live and silent auction items, including gift baskets donated by Pearland Old Townsite Farmer’s Market, a western-style leather saddle and a flag flown over the Texas State Capital in Austin. Representative Randy Webber and his wife Brenda donated the flag and promised to buy dinner at Killen’s Restaurant for the highest bidder.

After the auction, tables and chairs were cleared away for a true Texas-style dance, which everyone enjoyed.
