Two advance in National Achievement Scholarship Program

Congratulations to two area students on their recent achievements. Dawson High School’s Khalid Yusuf and Pearland High School’s Olasubomi Olubeko have been named finalists in the 2014 National Achievement Scholarship Program.

Yusuf and Olubeko are in the running for one of 800 National Achievement scholarships that will be awarded this year nationwide.

Approximately 1,300 out of more than 160,000 students entering this year’s program rank as finalists. Students requested consideration in the program when they took the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test in their junior year.

Founded in 1964 and conducted by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, the National Achievement program honors academically-promising black American high school students.
