2014/15 Season Debut

“Victor/Victoria”

Sept. 16-28

“Victor/Victoria” is a warm, funny look at the nature of love, gender perceptions and the battle of the sexes. It tells the story of an out-of-work singer whose life changes when she meets the flamboyant Toddy and with his help, she becomes “Victor,” an overnight singing sensation in the nightclubs of Paris. However, success becomes hilariously complicated when she meets the love of her life, King Marchan, a macho Chicago gangster. Adding her two cents to the couple’s troubles is Marchan’s ex-girlfriend, the ditzy Norma Cassidy, who stirs up trouble when she’s left for a man. From the electrifying excitement of “Le Jazz Hot” to the contemplative “Crazy World,” from the humor of “Chicago, Illinois” to the touching “Almost a Love Song,” this truly classic musical has it all! This self-produced musical will play at TUTS Sept. 16-28.

Tony Award-Winning Best Musical

The Music Man

May 5-17, 2015

One of the most cherished musicals in American theatre, “The Music Man,” marches onto the TUTS stage this summer. Described “as American as apple pie” by the New York Times, this great American classic tells the story of fast-talking, musical instruments salesman, Harold Hill, who cons the good folks of River City, Iowa, into believing that he can teach their children to play in a marching band despite the fact he doesn’t know a trombone from a treble clef. Before the fraudulent teacher can skip town with the loot, Harold’s got trouble when he falls for the quick-witted, not to mention beautiful, small town librarian, Marian. Meredith Wilson’s six-time, Tony Award-winning musical comedy has been entertaining audiences since 1957 and is a family-friendly story to be shared with every generation. Come one, come all to reminisce or to discover the timeless songs from this piece of musical Americana. Including classics such as “Seventy-Six Trombones” and “Trouble,” this nostalgic musical plays at TUTS May 5-17, 2015.
