Reminders for a Smooth Start to the School Year

To all the parents of Lakes of Savannah, do you know what your morning commute for the school year looks like yet? The buses have started running, which means that it’s about time you should, too. If your child hasn’t been completely enrolled for the bus system, complete the online registration process at, and bring the “verification” of enrollment and relevant residency documents to the child’s enrolled campus. Please call Transportation if you have any questions at 281-245-3101.

One tip for a smooth drive the morning of August 15 is to practice your routes beforehand. Take advantage of these last couple weeks of summer to drive around and explore the morning roads. Doing this allows you to budget time for a nice morning coffee before making sure you and your child get to where you need to be on time. If you really want to treat yourself, figure out the right time to leave your house for you to sneak in a Starbucks run before heading to work. It will make all the difference.

It’s so important for parents to get to know who teaches their children, which is why Alvin ISD has scheduled Meet the Teachers events before the first day of school, Monday, August 15.
