Pomona Elementary Students Take First Place at the Elementary UIL Meet

Lakes of Savannah is excited to announce two students who won first place at the Elementary UIL Academics Meet at Manvel High School on January 24 and 25, 2020! Carissma Shibu was the champion scholar in the 2nd Grade Creative Writing division. Yasser Taha was completely prepared to take first place in 4th Grade Spelling division.  Both Carissma and Yasser studied hard to apply what they learned at this competition.

The UIL Academic Meet challenges students to understand different subjects in detail in order to compete against other scholars. The competition provides motivation for many students to work harder in order to become the division champion. The Elementary UIL Academic Meet includes Art, Chess, Creative Writing, Dictionary Skills, Listening Skills, Maps Graphs and Charts, Music Memory, Number Sense, Oral Reading, Spelling Storytelling, Spanish Storytelling, and Ready Writing. Each subject requires different sets of skills and understanding in order to effectively compete. To learn more about the Academics UIL, please visit their website here
