Manvel High School Advanced Placement Chemistry teacher, Tonya York has been chosen to take part in a microgravity experience at Johnson Space Center. "I am extremely excited to be a part of this opportunity and just hope that no one falls to motion sickness during the roller coaster experience," York said in a press release. The experience will include online professional development, partnering with a NASA mentor, and a reduced-gravity flight.
The reduced-gravity flight NASA technology is used to perform experiments while aboard a specially designed aircraft. The airplane simulates microgravity by taking repeated dips and climbs over the Gulf of Mexico.
Manvel High School’s Chemistry team designed an experiment that explains what happens on the space station when everything must be recycled to generate breathable oxygen.
