Community Hosts Endless Summer Celebration

The sun was out and so were prospective and current residents of Lakes of Savannah for our “Endless Summer Celebration,” which was held in the Lennar and M/I Homes model home park on Saturday, July 7. The summer-themed event, which was entirely free for the community and hosted by Friendswood Development Company, included classic chili cheese dogs, fries, and tots provided by James Coney Island; an assortment of fruit-flavored shaved iced creations by Kona Ice; and ice cream bars provided by Southern Ice Cream. Under the tent, guests jammed to a variety of dance beats, Reggae music, and Top 40 hits by the always-popular DJ Gordy, who led an impromptu karaoke session with “How Far I’ll Go” from Disney’s Moana. He was also the emcee for our beach towel give away, which involved various trivia-type questions (“Who were the last four mayors for the City of Houston?” and “What team did LeBron James recently sign with as a free agent?”) and prizes awarded for the best dance moves. Erin Austin, DJ of Houston’s The Bull 100.3 and her promotions team, as well as Jason Cage of The Jason Cage Show on Mix 96.5, joined the festivities and gave away great gifts including a Lifetime Cooler, Expert Grill, and an H-E-B Gift Card. Other activities included ballon animals; lawn games (e.g., a potato sack race and game of Twister); a bungee tramp and bounce house; as well as a temporary tattoo station. All attendees were encouraged to visit the builder model homes in Lakes of Savannah for a chance to win family four-packs of Houston Astros tickets at Minute Maid Park. Current builders in the community include Lennar, M/I, Devon Street, and GreenEco.
