City Moves Forward with Design for New Fire Station

Plans to design a new fire station to take the place of the original Fire Station No. 1 are underway. The new facility, which will replace its 48-year-old predecessor, will be located at the northeast corner of Old Alvin and McHard Road. Construction of the $4.1 million 9,500 square feet. facility is expected to begin in January 2018. Once complete, the station will house one 4-person Engine Crew and one 2-person EMS ambulance crew. The station will include dorm rooms, restrooms with showers, a kitchen and dining area, dayroom, watch office, Lieutenant’s office, exercise room and a medical treatment room.
