Join communities across Texas in the 28th annual "National Night Out" this coming Tuesday October 4th. National Night Out helps strengthen community ties and it’s partnership with the the local police department.
Residents in Alvin and communities across Texas are invited to turn on their porch lights, lock the door, and spend the evening outside with their neighbors from 7pm to 10pm. Each neighborhood will celebrate in their own way from block parties and barbecues to potluck dinners. The local police and fire departments will be out visiting everyone along with EMS volunteers and other community leaders.
"National Night Out 2011 is the perfect opportunity for meeting with your neighbors and getting to know them better,"said Chief of Police, Mike Merkel. "The National Night Out program is an excellent way to discuss issues that affect the neighborhood with the police department when they visit you. Additionally, the concept of networking with your neighbors strengthens the security of your neighborhood."
To participate in "National Night Out 2011," register by calling Alvin Police Crime Prevention Officer Ruben Solano at (281) 585-7124. Registration is free and places your neighborhood on a roster of participants. CPO Solano hopes to see everyone participate; "National Night Out is a great time for everyone and we are hoping for another great year."
