The 43rd Annual Houston’s MLK Parade Goes Virtual

The 43rd annual Houston’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day Parade  will be a virtual celebration from 10 a.m - noon on Jan. 18. Houston’s parade is referred to as the nation’s original MLK Day parade sanctioned by Martin Luther King Sr. in 1978.

The live-streamed celebration, held in partnership with the Black Heritage Society, will include local entertainment and historical footage from prior parades. Grand Marshals of this years virtual even will be Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner and Harris County Judge Lina Hildago.

A drive-thru donation site, located at MacGregor Park, will be accepting donations during the event for two local nonprofits—the World Youth Foundation and St. John’s Downtown Church.
