“Barktoberfest” Fall Event at National Oak Park in Alvin

The City of Alvin Parks and Recreation Department will host its 2012 “Barktoberfest” on October 27 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at National Oak Park, 118 S Magnolia St.

This event, sponsored by Petsmart, will feature a pooch pageant with categories of tallest pooch, smallest pooch, pooch smooch, dog owner look and German heritage. You and your pooch can enter any or all of the categories.

There will be a disc competition, an Alvin K-9 demonstration, hyperflight skyhoundz competition, fly ball demo, vendors and more. Families without pets can also attend and consider adopting one at the dog adoption booth that will be at the event.

The City of Alvin Parks and Recreation Department oversees the development and construction of all city parks and recreation facilities in Alvin as well as helps to keep the city streets and parks clean. For more information about the event, call 281-388-4299.
